June 24, 2016 – Wellington, Ohio's Mike McVetta is becoming very familiar with the victory lane circle at Lorain County Speedway. In his last four visits there, he has won four times – three in his 22 supermodified (two ISMA and one MSA) and one in a Sauer sprint car coming just last Saturday. He certainly hopes the win streak continues. Standing by his yellow and red family-owned machine, Friday night, decked out with a $3000 winner's check, he was quite in awe of his achievement.
Jim Feeney's candid pit photos from the June 3 event at Delaware Speedway have now been posted! Click here to view Jim's photos from Delaware. There are no candid pit shots from the Oswego Speedway opener as Jim was in Indianapolis for the 500 festivites.
Canadian Mike Lichty opened up the International Super Modified Association’s (ISMA) 2016 season on Saturday night, winning the 50-lap Jack Murphy Memorial at the Oswego Speedway. It was the 10th-career win on the ISMA circuit for the Innerkip, Ontario resident - his fourth at the lakeside oval. Having started eighth on the grid, Lichty and his Reed’s Salvage No. 84 would take the lead away from Ohio’s Trent Stephens on the 17th lap and leave his chasers to tussle for second place. Unlike last year’s heartbreaking defeat - losing the lead on the final stretch of the last lap, Lichty would hold strong throughout, never being seriously challenged.
Delaware, Ontario, Canada, June 3, 2016 - To say Ohioan Dave Shullick Jr. has mastered the half mile at Delaware Speedway would be an understatement. Friday night Shoe II took his Bodnar-built 95 to a third consecutive victory there dating back to ISMA's opening day, 2015. His fourth career win, and initial one, at the famed Canadian oval came on August 9, 2009. Shullick started 12th on the field of 19 ISMA starters and overtook race leader Timmy Jedrzejek on restart of lap 30 of the 75-lapper. He was able to stave off several challenges after that and then set the 95 on cruise. The winner of last season's Harv Lennox Memorial two-race series, was on his way to a possible repeat.
