Lee, NH (August 11, 2017) – Baldwinsville, NY’s Michael Muldoon, with only five ISMA events under his belt viewed Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire for the first time on Friday night. He quickly adapted to the new-to-him venue and came home with a very impressive win in the Ollie Silva Memorial 75. His first career winged win took a combination of a good starting spot and a little luck when race leader Ben Seitz stopped off turn four on lap 63, while due to motor issues.
Muldoon had led the 75-lapper up until lap 33, when passed by Seitz in the Locke 37. Muldoon stayed in second while Seitz was able to build a comfortable lead, hauling in the $1000 Shea Concrete lap 37 bonus, until the car’s demise. Muldoon retook the top spot and led the remaining 11 laps, pressured by Ohio’s Mike McVetta, for the victory, his first career ISMA win.
Sandusky, OH (July 29, 2017) – In 2004 Mike Ordway Sr. put the Clyde Booth 61 into victory lane at Sandusky's 27th Hy-Miler 100. On Saturday night, thirteen years later, his son Mike Ordway Jr. brought the Booth 61 into victory lane, leading the event wire-to-wire.
Last season Mike Jr. had gotten the call to drive the potent Booth-built ride, something he had always dreamed of doing from a young age. He jumped at the chance. Mike picked up a win in his initial year for Clyde and Susan Booth in 2016. Saturday he topped that with the winning of the prestigious Hy-Miler Nationals, becoming only the second father and son combination to etch their names into the record books along with Dave Shullick Sr. and Dave Shullick Jr. Mike Sr, and the rest of the close-knit racing Ordway family were all on hand to enjoy the victory lane ceremonies of the second generation winner.
Jennerstown, PA (July 15, 2017) - At the beginning of the 2017 ISMA race season, P&L Motorsports had found the new driver they had been looking for to run the Lee and Pam Vinal 21. The Vinals had campaigned a car on the ISMA circuit for over four years with several drivers, but had not picked up that elusive first win.
Chelmsford, Mass driver Jon McKennedy, who did not have a potential super ride for this year, had been the one asked to drive the car full-time in 2017. In a racing career that had spanned 20 years, Jon had competed in the winged supermodifieds for a number of years but only one or two were full-time seasons. The talented driver had built up an impressive resume in the asphalt modified divisions in New England with numerous wins and multi-championships to his credit. Along the way he had also accumulated seven ISMA feature wins, jumping into a competitive car on occasion when available and usually having success.
Sandusky, OH (July 28, 2017) - Vickery, Ohio's Moe Lilje admitted in victory lane after his first career Fast Forty win at Sandusky Speedway, that it had been a while since he had won at that Ohio oval. He has won more recently however. The Fast Forty ISMA win was his career third, coming off a big win at the Star Classic last September in the Jimmy Bodnar 76.
A long rain delay Friday did not deter Lilje, whose season had not been up to his potential so far, from finally turning the tides, putting in a spectacular run out front for the victory. Starting outside front row, Lilje was able to survive several yellows, and a number of strong challenges from some of supermodifieds' best on hand for the famed Hy-Miler weekend.
Stafford Springs, CT (June 23, 2017) – At the end of the 2016 ISMA season, Bourne, Mass. driver Ben Seitz found himself without a ride for the 2017 year. Along came car owner Ken Locke who just happened to have a vacant supermodified that needed a driver and a new team was born. And, to date, Seitz has acclimatized himself quite well and the union has been quite productive. Seitz started out with a fifth place at the ISMA opener at Oswego in his first run in the car and followed that with a twelfth at Lancaster. Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway, Ben started outside front row in the 22-car field , took the initial lead and easily fled from the competitive field behind him, leading the entire 60 laps. A late race challenge by Timmy Jedrzejek was the only close call for the talented former 4-time NEMA champion. Only two yellows slowed the way with Seitz picking up his 7th career ISMA win, his first in the Locke 37 at a track he ran as early as age 16 when he competed with the Legends class.
